An Oren Lavie appreciation blog! :) <3

GUYS! LOOK! Oren singing in Hebrew! So beautiful! <3 And the video’s dated from March of THIS YEAR! Maybe this means more of him soon? We’ll see!

I’d love to know what this song is about. Anyone know Hebrew?

Thanks to fieldsofcarnation for sending this to me! :)

So I’ve enjoyed getting fan mail.

SEND MORE! :)

beccawolf16 answered your question: So who else listens to Oren when they’re super stressed or need help sleeping? :)

definatly! Quarter Past Wonderful always helps me get out of a funk!

Glad to hear that! It is quite the cheerful little song, isn’t it? :)

A Dance Round the Memory Tree- Oren Lavie

Words we had said
Grew in my head
Colored I thought
Send me to bed

Lost memories
Grew into trees
Cover the doors
Swallow the cure

Winters have come and gone you know
Winters have come and gone you know
But I’ll miss you young and free
For a dance round the memory tree

Said I forgot
But I did not
Dreams we have had
Play in my head

Did we believe,
The cry of the wind?
Did we regret?
Would we forget?

Winters have come and gone you know
Winters have come and gone you know
But I’ll miss you young and sweet
For a dance round the memory tree

A personal favorite…

An Interview with Oren Lavie

And you get to hear him speak in his native tongue! :D

So, this is my letter to Oren.

In case you were interested or wanted a guideline to send your own. :)

Brb, emailing Oren and scolding him for leaving all the fans hanging on no information for forever.

But also praising him. :)

You can email him, too! Just visit orenlavie.com and there’s a section titled “contact”.

DEMAND ANSWERS, LOL.

So, this is what happened when I signed up for updates at orenlavie.com. I almost squealed.

Dear stranger,

I am pleased to make your acquaintance. Now and then I will be sending an E-mail to communicate my very urgent thoughts, funniest jokes, most insightful observations and current recipes to everybody who has expressed the desire to be so informed.

I do not play concerts often because I am very lazy, but I shall inform you of those rare occasions, probably too late for you to be able to do something about it, probably the dayafter the concert, for I am very disorganized, too.

Never the less, there will be some kind of communication now that I have your E-mail.

I shall be delighted, hand on heart, to hear from you, too. I read all my mail before going to bed, teeth brushed, dressed in my striped pajamas. No rhymes are necessary.

Yours,

Oren Lavie

You try to write a story and you’re having a hard time with it and you realize it’s not a story, it’s a song. And vice versa, you begin to write a song and there’s a certain subtlety that you cannot boil down into a song and then you realize, okay, it’s a play… By doing all three things, you basically widen your vocabulary and you have many more angles to look at one possible story.

Oren Lavie

The result is an album which is small, but rich. It is not the outcome of three years of my life, it IS three years of my life. Though it plays less than an hour.

Don’t let your hair grow too long
Leave your yellow raincoat on
Don’t get wet
But don’t get warm
Don’t change the time on your watch
Always reach, but never touch
Stay a picture on the wall
